About This Tea
Growing at altitudes between 1.000 and 2000 meters, the small tea plantations in Nepal are partly still operated by so-called ‘small holders', family businesses without their own production plants. aromatic and fine teas are produced mainly from Chinese hybrids. Due to the small growing area, those are unfortunately only available in small quantities. Located in the Himalayan region of mid Ilam in the eastern part of Nepal at an altitude of 4000 ft above sea level, the Maloom tea estate is the oldest in Nepal. These high altitudes promote slow growth in the tea bushes resulting in more intricate and refined flavors. There is also an emphasis on creating sustainability at all levels…for farmers, producers, community, industry and country.
